This full-featured software application performs image manipulation using Microsoft Access and FreeImage, an open source library for working with image files. The program was created to help anyone using FreeImage with Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
The Standard version (FreeImageDemo.mde) is a fully compiled Microsoft Access MDE locked file which you can use to evaluate and test the program. It has the same features as the Developer version and does not expire. However, you can not modify the Standard version or access any source code. The software under this license is provided free of charge.
Price £65, the Developer version (FreeImageDemo.mdb) is a Microsoft Access MDB unlocked file with full read/write access to objects and source code. It can be used by Microsoft Access developers with VBA programming skills to develop their own applications. This is paid software with full access to objects and source code.
FreeImage Demo has been developed and tested using Microsoft Access 2002 and Windows XP Professional SP3 32-bit. For newer versions of Microsoft Access and 64-bit systems you will need the Developer version and necessary experience to modify the code. To use the program, open FreeImageDemo.mde/FreeImageDemo.mdb, go to Forms in the Database window, and open the Form named frmMain. The file FreeImage.dll must be in the program folder.

- Drag and drop a file onto the user interface to open the file or click the Open button to display the File Dialog
- Loads the image full-size or sized to fit the dimensions of the main form
- Image zoom in and zoom out with interactive scroll bars
- Sizeable main form with automatic image resizing and interactive scroll bars
- The status bar displays the image size (percent)/zoom in and zoom out (percent) in panel 1, and width/height (pixels) and BPP (bits per pixel) in panel 2
- Saves configuration settings to FreeImageDemo.ini file in the program folder
- Saves image files to the folder specified in the settings (default is program folder)
- Adds a sequential number after the name for duplicate files
- Convert between format, type, and compression
- Resize width/height (pixels) and change x/y resolution (dots per inch)
- Crop left, right, top and bottom margins
- Flip horizontal, flip vertical, rotate left and rotate right
- Adjust brightness, contrast, and gamma
- Pick a colour in the image and make it transparent
- View image information, change resolution and transparent background colour and remove transparency
- Change settings preferences and default folder for saving files and set image borders
- Includes Batch Create Icons, Batch Make Thumbnails and Batch Convert Images
